Commitment to our communities is at the heart of WSP Opus’ culture and values.
We are proud to be part of our communities. In fact, our commitment to the communities we live and work in is at the heart of our culture. We are regularly involved in local activities through fundraising and volunteering.
Here are a few examples:
World Water Day remembers the 780 million people who don’t have clean water and the 2.5 billion without adequate sanitation. The WSP Opus team helped raise $2,500 to build water tanks in the Pacific Islands.
Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Event
In this fundraiser teams cycle through their community raising awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke research.
It’s been described as the ‘most life changing, team building, foot slogging, friendship forming, group hugging experience... ever!’ Teams walk 100km in under 36 hours raising sponsorship for Oxfam. Each WSP Opus team commits to raise over $2,000.
Relay for Life
We have got behind Relay For Life in a number of locations. The relay is one of the Cancer Society’s biggest fundraisers.
Loud Shirt Day
Everyone loves a loud shirt, or do they? Either way, a loud shirt makes a point and we support The Hearing House and Southern Cochlear Implant Paediatric Programme. Loud Shirt Day raises funds to help hearing impaired children learn to hear and speak.
SIDS Fun Run
The WSP Opus team took part in the Fun Run for SIDS and Kids. Through research, education and services, the charity aims to save the lives of children during pregnancy and childhood and support people grieving the loss of a child.
Wear it Pink
The WSP Opus team takes part in Wear It Pink day. Wear It Pink raises funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research.
Habitat for Humanity
The WSP Opus team made life a little brighter for an earthquake-displaced family by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Christchurch. Habitat for Humanity has been developing housing on a rent to own basis for low-income families affected by the earthquakes.
Operation Nest Egg
We support this project to enhance and protect the kiwi population and continue to restore the ecosystem.
Life Education Trust
We have sponsored the Life Education Trust for over seven years. The Life Trust teaches children to make informed choices about their health, respect others and learn to appreciate their uniqueness.
The Lifewise Big Sleepout
We joined other business and community leaders to 'sleep rough' on cardboard mattresses in a city carpark for one night to raise funds to help tackle homelessness.
The Gong Ride
An WSP Opus contingent took part in the Gong Ride from Sydney to Wollongong to raise funds to support people with MS.
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run
The WSP Opus team takes part in this event to support breast cancer research and education.
