We project managed an asset management plan for the mill’s non-process assets
This comprehensive plan will help the mill to manage its assets strategically over the next 20 years.
WSP Opus project managed the preparation of an asset management plan for the Mill’s non-process assets. This project for the Tokoroa mill was commissioned by ABB who were the maintenance contractors for its owners Carter Holt Harvey. The plan covered buildings, water and wastewater, structures, roads and security fences.
The plan was prepared using the New Zealand Asset Management Support (NAMS) format commonly used by New Zealand local authorities. This format is based on the International Infrastructure Management Manual prepared in association with NAMS and the Association of Local Government Engineering NZ Inc (formerly INGENIUM).
The plan covered:
- A review of current levels of service (LOS) and benchmark against desired LOS
- An assessment of asset condition
- Assessment of key risk using AS/NZS 4360
- 20-year maintenance plan with cost estimates based on condition assessment
- Use of the NAMS format
Log handling, pulp and paper production, heating, ventilation and electrical equipment were out of the scope of this asset management plan.
