Supporting Telecom’s engineering infrastructure since 2001

We provide Telecom with design advice and consultancy services to support a wide range of engineering services infrastructure.

WSP Opus has played a key role in bringing asset management processes to Telecom’s engineering services equipment since 2001. Telecom NZ is the incumbent telecommunications provider in New Zealand and has more than 600 exchange buildings as well as many access related buildings and structures. 

We have provided Telecom with design advice and consultancy services to support a wide
range of Telecom’s engineering services infrastructure, including:

  • DC power (batteries, rectifiers and distribution)
  • AC power (essential power and non-essential power)
  • No-break UPS power
  • Engine alternators
  • Air conditioning plant (chillers, pumps, DX, process coolers, controls, condensers etc)
  • Equipment racks and seismic frames
  • Fire and smoke protection and detection (VESDA, alarms sprinklers etc)

Our ongoing work with Telecom includes:

  • Interpreting methodologies in the International Infrastructure Management Manual and adapting to engineering services
  • Incorporating risk management strategies and prioritisation methods including reliability centred maintenance
  • Site condition surveys
  • Risk and energy audits
  • Programming and forecasting future expenditure requirements for engineering services
  • Structural building and seismic assessments
