Cherishing water so that our people, communities and environment continue to flourish. Water is the world’s most precious resource. The world’s water is coming under increasing pressure due to rapid urbanisation, food production challenges, aging infrastructure and climate change. WSP Opus’ specialists facilitate management of the entire water lifecycle from source to tap and return to the environment. We provide services for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment, water resources and flood risk management, water for agriculture, water asset management and for hydropower generation.

Environment is all encompassing. It includes all our infrastructure, from transport, to water, to economy, to buildings, to nature and heritage. Our environment has a great level of influence on our quality of life and thus ability to understand our environment and how it might be damaged or enhanced, and to plan and design accordingly are extremely important. Our aspiration is to combine our diverse capabilities to help our clients consider complex aspects of the environment, including where these compete, and how best to plan and provide for the well-being our communities and of our natural environment.

WSP Opus has been part of New Zealand’s energy landscape for over 50 years and in Canada, WSP Opus has been involved in the energy market for 100 years. We have been involved with many of New Zealand’s most significant energy projects and are well connected to all major infrastructure.

We work to create solutions, from designing ancillary structures to planning and developing the infrastructure around mines, like roads and bridges.

The WSP Opus Telecommunications team work with clients in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

We have a proud history dating back more than 50 years to the New Zealand Ministry of Works when we provided experimental research that informed the design and construction of major national infrastructure projects, such as hydroelectric power schemes and state highways.

Our network of eleven IANZ (International Accreditation of New Zealand) laboratories provide accredited test reports, specialist independent consulting services, materials testing and analysis for engineering construction materials using a multi-disciplinary team of highly trained technicians and technical specialists.

We offer unique access to all of NZ Aerial Mapping’s aerial photography library consisting of approximately 800,000 images from 78 years’ worth of work covering all of New Zealand. As well as the Crown scanned archive we have access to thousands of other surveys.
